Is whey good for weight gain?

I've been working out and want to gain some muscle mass and overall weight. My gym trainer suggested adding whey protein to my diet. Is whey generally good for weight gain, like putting on healthy bulk?

Listen, whey protein can help you gain muscle weight, but don't just rely on shakes. You need to eat good solid meals like banana shakes, potatoes, and paneer too. Take it slow and don't rush your body into gaining too fast.

If you are struggling to gain weight, first check your thyroid levels because hyperthyroidism can keep you thin no matter what you eat. I had to get my blood tests done regularly. Only start whey after your doctor gives you the green light.

I can only share what worked for me when I was underweight. I started drinking whey protein with whole milk and peanut butter after my home workouts, and it slowly helped me put on 4 kgs in three months.

Whey is just a tool to hit your daily protein target. For weight gain, you must be in a calorie surplus. Lift weights 3-4 times a week, drink your whey shake, and eat dense foods like nuts, ghee, and eggs.

Whey protein is excellent for clean weight gain if you combine it with strength training. Otherwise, the extra calories might just turn into belly fat. Try taking one scoop with milk post workout and keep your home meals rich in pulses and rice.
