Is wheat bread better for diabetics?

My father has diabetes, and we've switched to wheat bread at home, hoping it's a better option for him. Is wheat bread truly better for diabetics compared to white bread, or should we be looking for something else?

Honestly, most wheat bread you buy at the store is just white bread with brown food color. My dad is diabetic and his doctor told him to avoid bread completely and eat homemade rotis instead.

Don't fall for the 'wheat bread is healthy' marketing gimmick. Check the ingredients list for added sugar, malt, or palm oil, and verify with your doctor or dietician before making it a daily habit.

Wheat bread has slightly more fiber than white bread, but it can still cause a rapid rise in blood glucose. Try to opt for whole grains like jowar or bajra which are much safer for a diabetic diet.

From my own experience managing type 2 diabetes, even whole wheat bread spikes my sugar if I don't pair it with fiber or protein. It is better than white bread, but still needs strict portion control.

Managing insulin resistance with PCOS is similar to diabetes. I found that wheat bread can still trigger cravings and blood sugar swings for me, so I try to stick to whole foods like moong dal cheelas.
