Is weight gain a sign of diabetes?

My blood sugar levels have been a bit high lately, and I've also put on some weight around my belly. My mother has diabetes, and I'm wondering if this weight gain is a sign that I might be developing it too.

Dekho yaar, direct bolu toh diabetes mein generally weight sudden loose hota hai, gain nahi. But agar body mein insulin resistance chal raha hai toh weight badh sakta hai. Faltu darna band karo aur chupchap lab jaake ek HbA1c test karwa lo, sab clear ho jayega.

I totally get it, seeing the scale go up without any change in diet can make anyone anxious. It makes you worry if there is an underlying issue like diabetes. Just take a deep breath, it could be a simple hormonal shift, but getting a doctor's opinion will definitely give you peace of mind.

Weight fluctuations can be linked to several metabolic issues, including insulin sensitivity. While it's not the primary symptom of diabetes, it is certainly worth investigating. It is best to consult a general physician who can guide you with the right blood tests instead of self-diagnosing.

Usually, diabetes causes unexplained weight loss rather than gain. However, if your body is struggling with insulin, you might feel hungry often and gain weight. Just watch out if you have other symptoms like extreme thirst or frequent urination, and get your fasting blood sugar tested.

I panicked so much a few months back when I put on 5 kgs suddenly, thinking it was diabetes because my dad has it. But when I got my reports, everything was completely normal and it was just stress-induced water retention. Don't worry too much, sometimes our bodies just go through temporary phases.

I actually had this same issue last year. My weight kept creeping up and I felt tired all the time, and when I finally went to the doctor, my fasting sugar was borderline pre-diabetic. I managed to reverse it with a proper low-carb diet and regular walks, so definitely get checked early.
