Is vicks ok for pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester and have a terrible stuffy nose and a cough. I usually use Vicks for relief, but I'm worried now that I'm pregnant. Is Vicks safe to use during pregnancy, or should I avoid it completely?

Yes, inhaling Vicks or applying a little bit on your chest is generally considered safe during pregnancy.

Instead of taking heavy cold medicines which can be risky for the baby, using a tiny bit of Vicks for a blocked nose is a very practical and safe solution. Steam inhalation with plain water also works beautifully without any worry.

While external application of Vicks is fine, make sure you are also drinking plenty of warm fluids like ginger-tulsi tea to boost your immunity naturally. Staying hydrated is very important when you have a cold during pregnancy.

I was also super paranoid about this during my second trimester and avoided everything. But my doctor reassured me that rubbing a small amount on the throat or chest is perfectly fine. Just try not to apply it near your belly or nose directly if the strong smell makes you nauseous.

For mild congestion, hot water steam with a pinch of turmeric or tulsi is the best natural remedy. While Vicks is okay for temporary relief, please consult your gynecologist if you have a high fever or severe breathing difficulty.
