Is throat coat tea safe for pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and have had a really sore throat for a few days. My mother suggested I drink Throat Coat tea, as it's an herbal remedy. I wanted to check if Throat Coat tea is generally considered safe to drink during pregnancy.

I was looking this up recently for my sister. It turns out many throat coat teas contain licorice root, which some studies say can be risky during pregnancy. It is probably best to avoid it until you check with your gynac.

Many herbal teas contain ingredients like licorice or slippery elm that are not fully evaluated for safety during pregnancy. I always advise my patients to ask their obstetrician clearly before consuming any herbal infusions. Stick to warm water with ginger or honey for now.

Please be very careful with herbal remedies during pregnancy. I had some blood pressure issues during my first pregnancy after drinking random herbal teas, and my doctor strictly warned me against them. Always get your doctor's approval first.

I once self-treated a bad cough with herbal teas during my early pregnancy and it ended up worsening into a severe chest infection that required strong meds. Don't try self-medicating with these specialty teas. Go see your doctor and get a safe prescription.

Actually yaar, those herbal teas can be tricky during pregnancy because of active ingredients. Better to avoid throat coat tea for now and just drink normal warm water with honey. Safety first, so do ask your doctor once.
