Is spinach good for pregnancy?

I'm newly pregnant and trying to make sure I'm eating all the right things for the baby. Someone told me spinach is very important. Is spinach really good for pregnancy and the baby's development?

I am in my first trimester and trying to learn what is safe. I read that spinach has folic acid which is very important for the baby. Should we eat it daily or is twice a week enough?

My gynaecologist highly recommended spinach during my pregnancy because of its high folate and iron content, which help prevent birth defects and anemia. However, she specifically warned me to wash it thoroughly to avoid any soil-borne bacterial infections. Always cook it well.

I got really worried after reading that too much spinach can interfere with calcium absorption. Did any of you also feel anxious about eating greens during your pregnancy? I am constantly second-guessing everything I eat.

In our family, elders advise eating spinach regularly during pregnancy for strength. But my doctor said to balance it with other veggies so that we don't get too much calcium or oxalates, which can cause minor digestion issues. Better to follow your doctor's specific advice.

My wife kept eating cooked spinach throughout her pregnancy to maintain her iron levels while continuing her light pre-natal walks. It is a great nutrient-dense food. Just pair it with a source of vitamin C, like a squeeze of lemon, to absorb the iron better.
