Is sourdough bread better for diabetics?

I have diabetes and my dietician suggested looking into fermented foods. I'm wondering if sourdough bread is better for diabetics compared to regular white or even whole wheat bread. I'm trying to manage my blood sugar better.

I recently brought my high HbA1c levels back down to normal. Swapping my regular commercial brown bread for freshly baked sourdough was one of the best dietary changes I made, as my post-breakfast sugar spikes dropped significantly.

Yes, sourdough has a lower glycemic index, making it much better. If you have a slice, try taking a quick 15-minute walk right after your meal to help your muscles absorb the glucose even better, provided your doctor permits light exercise.

Don't stress too much about completely cutting out bread, okay? Sourdough is actually a super safe and yummy option because of how it is fermented. Just enjoy a nice slice with some eggs and relax, your sugar will be fine.

Sourdough is a very good natural option because of the traditional fermentation process. However, if you are experiencing extreme thirst or fatigue, please don't just rely on bread changes and see your doctor for a proper checkup.

I tried so many bitter gourd juices and remedies to control my husband's morning sugar, but simply shifting his regular breakfast bread to sourdough made the biggest practical difference. It keeps him full and happy without any steep spikes.

I know how terrifying it is to watch your blood sugar monitor after every single bite of food. Sourdough is genuinely much gentler on your system than other breads, so you can eat it without feeling guilty or anxious. Just start with one slice.
