Is short hair better for scalp psoriasis?

I've been dealing with scalp psoriasis for years, and it's always so itchy and flaky. Someone suggested that maybe keeping my hair short would help. Is short hair actually better for managing scalp psoriasis?

Ya, for me it was. Short hair makes it easier to apply topical treatments directly to the scalp without making a mess in long hair. Plus, less itching and less noticeable flakes. Definitely helped.

For skin conditions like psoriasis, it's always best to get advice from a dermatologist. They can tell you if short hair helps with treatment application or reduces irritation, rather than just guessing.

My dermatology app actually suggested keeping hair short for easier treatment access and less moisture retention for scalp issues. It makes sense, as less hair means better airflow and product absorption. So yeah, generally it helps.

I totally get why you're asking this. Dealing with scalp psoriasis is really tough. Short hair can definitely make it easier to manage, like applying medication and keeping the scalp clean, which can reduce irritation.

While it sounds logical that short hair might make applying treatments simpler, everyone's skin reacts differently. I'd say consult your dermatologist first. They might have specific advice for your hair type and condition, avoid generic solutions.
