Is ricotta cheese ok in pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester and really craving some lasagna with ricotta cheese. My mother-in-law is saying it's not safe, but I read online that some soft cheeses are okay. Can someone please tell me if ricotta is alright during pregnancy?

Yes, pasteurized ricotta cheese is generally safe during pregnancy! I used to track all my food intake with an app when I was pregnant. Just ensure the label explicitly says 'pasteurized' to avoid any risks. It's a good source of protein and calcium.

Ricotta in pregnancy? As long as it's not trying to escape the fridge and plotting world domination, you're probably good! 😂 But seriously, check if it's pasteurized. That's the main thing. If it is, enjoy your cheesy goodness, mama!

Beti, always be careful with dairy products during pregnancy. If it is made from pasteurized milk, it is generally considered safe. But in our time, we mostly relied on fresh, simple things. If you have any doubt, ask your doctor. A little common sense and doctor's word goes a long way.

Yes, absolutely fine, as long as it's made with pasteurized milk. This is standard for most commercial ricotta in India. Just check the label to be sure. It's a good source of protein and calcium for you and the baby.

Ricotta cheese is considered safe during pregnancy if it is made from pasteurized milk. This is crucial to prevent listeria infection. Always check the product label for pasteurization. However, for any specific dietary concerns during pregnancy, consulting your obstetrician is the most reliable approach.
