Is lower back ache a sign of pregnancy?

My periods are a bit late this month, and I've been having this dull ache in my lower back for the past few days. Someone at work mentioned it could be a sign of pregnancy, so I'm a bit worried and confused. Is this true?

It can be one of the signs, but honestly, you shouldn't guess. Many things cause back pain like muscle strain or even your period coming up. Best is to do a quick home urine test or visit your doctor for a proper blood test to be 100% sure.

Yes, early hormonal changes can relax your ligaments, which sometimes triggers lower back ache. But don't rely only on this symptom because it's very common in PMS too. Just get a standard UPT kit from the chemist and check with morning urine for an accurate result.

For me, backache was actually my very first symptom before I even missed my period! My lower back felt so heavy and stiff out of nowhere. If you are trying, wait for a couple of days and do a test at home, it might be good news.

If you do find out you are pregnant, light walking and gentle stretching can really help keep your back strong. Just don't start any heavy lifting or intense routines without asking your gynaecologist first. Staying active makes a huge difference.

Please be careful if the pain is severe. I had intense back pain early on and ignored it thinking it was normal, but it turned out to need medical attention. If the pain is sharp or if you see any spotting, please see a doctor immediately.

Look, back pain can happen because of anything, even sitting wrong or lifting something heavy. Don't start overthinking and assuming you are pregnant just because of a backache. Take a deep breath, buy a test strip, and check properly.

I am also wondering about this because I've been feeling a slight dull ache in my lower back since last week. Is it usually a continuous pain or does it come and go? I am a bit nervous to do a pregnancy test so soon.
