Is loss of appetite a symptom of diabetes?

My father has diabetes, and lately, he's barely eating anything, saying he just doesn't feel like it. Is this loss of appetite something that happens with diabetes? Should we be worried?

Hey, usually diabetes makes you feel way more hungry and thirsty. If you're losing your appetite, it might be due to some other stomach issue, so maybe just check with a doc to be safe.

Actually, diabetes usually causes the exact opposite—increased hunger (polyphagia). But if someone has long-term uncontrolled diabetes, it can cause nerve damage in the stomach called gastroparesis, leading to loss of appetite. Get a HbA1c test done to be sure.

Don't ignore any changes in your eating habits. I ignored my fluctuating appetite and fatigue for months, thinking it was just work stress, until I was diagnosed with high blood sugar. Get a simple blood test done before it gets worse.

When my father was diagnosed with diabetes, he actually had a huge appetite but was still losing weight. I haven't personally seen loss of appetite as an early sign, but a doctor can guide you better.

Diabetes me toh aamtaur par bhook bahut lagti hai, haan. Par agar pet kharab lag raha hai aur khane ka mann nahi hai, toh ek baar sugar test karva lo na, sab clear ho jayega.

Usually, diabetes causes high hunger, not a loss of appetite. You should definitely consult a doctor for an accurate diagnosis.
