Is kidney stones surgery dangerous?

My cousin is considering surgery for her kidney stones, but she's quite scared about the procedure. I'm trying to find out if kidney stones surgery is generally dangerous, or if it's a relatively safe option these days. Any risks involved?

The thought of surgery makes me so nervous, honestly. Has anyone here undergone laser surgery (RIRS or URSL) for kidney stones, and was it painful afterward? I would love to hear how the recovery was.

It is not dangerous at all these days because most kidney stone surgeries are keyhole or laser-based, meaning no big cuts. The practical approach is to check with 2-3 hospitals to find a package that fits your insurance and has experienced urologists.

Listen, there is no need to panic. Modern laser treatments for kidney stones are very common and safe. Just find a qualified urologist, get it done, and stop reading horror stories on the internet.

From what I have been reading, kidney stone procedures like lithotripsy or laser surgery are minimally invasive now. They don't even involve large incisions most of the time, which makes them very safe compared to traditional open surgeries.

Modern urology has advanced so much that kidney stone surgeries are routine day-care procedures now. Most patients go home within 24 hours. Just choose a hospital with a good laser setup and follow their post-op instructions carefully.

I totally get it, any mention of the word 'surgery' can make anyone super anxious. But please don't worry, kidney stone surgeries like laser or shockwave therapy are very common and highly safe today. You will be back on your feet in no time!
