Is it safe to sleep in your car?

Sometimes after late-night work or travel, I'm too tired to drive all the way home and just crash in my car for a few hours. My family keeps telling me it's dangerous. Is it actually safe to sleep in your car, especially if it's for a short while?

Sleeping in a car is definitely not optimal for recovery or proper rest. You need a flat, comfortable surface for spinal alignment. Plus, fresh air is important. If you're on a long drive and need a short nap, fine, but for actual sleep, find a proper place. Prioritize your body's needs for good rest.

I'd be so worried about safety if I had to sleep in my car! What if someone tries to break in, or the carbon monoxide issue? Has anyone here actually done it for a full night? How did you manage to feel secure and get some proper rest?

For a little while, if you are tired and need rest, it's okay. But for proper sleep, a bed is much better. Be safe always.

For a short power nap on a long journey, it's okay, but full night's sleep, no. It's uncomfortable, not safe, and you won't get quality sleep. Better to find a dharamshala or a cheap lodge if you're really stuck. Or just push through and reach home. Practicality first.

From a health and safety perspective, it's generally not advisable for prolonged periods. Risk of carbon monoxide poisoning (if engine is running), poor posture leading to back pain, and security concerns are major. For a quick rest stop, maybe, but not as a regular sleeping arrangement. Always prioritize a safe and well-ventilated space.
