Is it ok to take tums during pregnancy?

I'm about five months pregnant and experiencing really bad heartburn after almost every meal. My cousin suggested Tums for quick relief. Is it okay to take Tums during pregnancy, or should I avoid it?

Honestly, best to check with your doctor first. Don't take any chances, especially with pregnancy. Sometimes a simple phone call to your gynecologist's office can save you a consultation fee, just ask if it's safe to take. Better safe than sorry!

Arre, pregnancy mein kuch bhi apne mann se nahi lena chahiye, behen. Doctor se pooch lo na. Kabhi kabhi humare ghar ke bade log bhi alag advice dete hain but is time pe toh doc hi best hai. Take care!

See, different doctors have different opinions on even common meds during pregnancy. My wife's gynaecologist at Apollo Hospital was very specific about what she could and couldn't take. Just call your doctor or clinic directly and ask them to confirm. Don't rely on general info.

Hey yaar, I know pregnancy brings all these little worries! For acidity, sometimes even simple things like a glass of milk or some saunf (fennel seeds) after meals can help. But for Tums, def ask your doc. Don't stress too much, just a quick call will sort it!

Please, please don't take anything without asking your doctor first. I once thought a small cough wouldn't harm my baby and took some home remedy, and it turned out to be something more serious that needed proper meds. It's better to be overly cautious when you're expecting. Call your gynaecologist today!

I was just reading up on this because my cousin is pregnant and also has acidity. Most online articles say some antacids containing calcium carbonate are generally considered safe, but they always add 'consult your doctor'. It's confusing, right? Better to be super sure.
