Is it normal to sleep a lot after surgery?

My relative just had a major surgery, and they've been sleeping almost constantly since. Their family is worried. Is it normal to sleep a lot after surgery, or is it something to be concerned about?

Yeah, definitely normal. Your body has gone through a lot, and sleep is when it repairs itself. Make sure your diet is good for recovery too – protein and vitamins are super important. Don't rush into exercising, take it slow and listen to your doc.

After surgery, the body needs to heal a lot, so more sleep is quite common. My mother always said 'good rest is half the cure'. Anaesthesia also takes time to leave the system. Just ensure you're following doctor's advice on medication and activity, and if you're concerned, do call your surgeon.

Oh, I've read about this! The body uses a huge amount of energy to recover from surgery and anesthesia. So sleeping a lot seems like a natural way for it to cope and heal. Hope your recovery is going well!

After my knee surgery, I remember sleeping a lot for the first few days, and even for weeks after I felt tired easily. I think it's part of the body's repair process. My doctors told me to rest as much as I could. Everyone's recovery is different though.

Absolutely normal! I mean, after all that pain and stress, your body just wants to chill and recover. Make sure you're eating nice, nourishing food too – no crash diets, just wholesome ghar ka khaana to help with the healing. Maybe some warm soup? :)

Haan, haan, bilkul normal hai! Surgery ke baad body thodi weak ho jaati hai na. Medicines bhi hoti hain jo sleep induce karti hain. Just rest up, give your body time. Agar bohot zyada lagta hai, toh ek baar doc se pooch lo, but mostly it's fine.
