Is it normal to have pain months after hernia surgery?

I had hernia surgery about six months ago, and sometimes I still feel a dull ache in the area, especially when I lift something heavy. My wife thinks it's just my imagination. Is it normal to have pain months after hernia surgery?

I had a dull ache for almost three months post-surgery, especially after I ate a heavy meal of chole bhature. Keep your digestion light because bloating and gas press directly against that healing abdominal wall, making it hurt more. Eat smaller portions and keep your stomach happy.

It takes a long time for the deep layers of the stomach to heal after surgery, beta. I used to apply mild warm compresses and drink ginger tea to avoid gas which causes pressure on the stitches. But please don't lift any heavy buckets or do heavy chores for a few more months.

While mild discomfort due to scar tissue formation is relatively common after a few months, persistent or sharp pain should not be ignored. It is best to schedule a follow-up ultrasound to ensure the mesh is intact and there is no recurrence. Consulting your operating surgeon is the safest course of action.

I am just four months post-op from my laparoscopic hernia repair and still feel a weird tugging sensation and occasional pain when I stretch. My surgeon told me it's just the mesh settling and the nerves regenerating. It is getting better slowly, but don't strain yourself.

I got so terrified when I felt a pinching pain six months after my surgery that I rushed to the emergency room thinking the mesh had slipped. The doctors did a scan and told me it was just nerve healing and muscular adjustment. It's quite normal, so take a deep breath and don't stress.

My surgeon explained that chronic post-herniorrhaphy pain can happen due to nerve entrapment or tissue scarring around the surgical mesh. He advised me that while mild twinges are normal as tissues stretch, any severe pain accompanied by a visible lump needs immediate clinical evaluation to rule out recurrence.

Bro, I had the same pain even five months after my hernia operation whenever I tried doing basic core exercises. Don't rush into lifting weights or doing heavy work. Just give your body time to heal properly, it takes way longer than you think.

My hospital had a dedicated post-surgery rehab plan, and they told me pain can crop up even months later if you bend suddenly. You should definitely send an email or visit your surgeon to get a clear answer rather than guessing. They might suggest a simple physical exam to confirm everything is healing fine.
