Is it better to sleep with socks on or off?

My feet always get cold at night, so I tend to sleep with socks on. But then sometimes I wake up feeling too warm. Is there any health benefit or downside to either choice?

In peak winter, wearing loose cotton socks saves me from waking up cold at 3 AM. If you are busy and don't want to mess up your sleep cycle, just keep a pair next to the bed. Just make sure they aren't tight around the ankles.

Look, if your feet get cold, wear socks. If you sweat, take them off. There is no major science to it, just use clean cotton socks and don't wear dirty ones to bed.

Sleeping with socks actually helps warm up your feet, which signals your brain that it is time to sleep. It is a very safe and cozy way to sleep better, especially in winters. Just make sure the material is breathable cotton.

Keeping the body warm is important for overall circulation. Just like we eat warm, soothing foods in the evening, keeping your feet cozy with light socks helps with general relaxation. Avoid tight synthetics as they trap sweat.

I used to read that sleeping with socks on can stop blood circulation and I panicked so much. But then I realized if they are loose, it is totally safe and actually prevents cracked heels. Don't worry, just pick very loose ones.

I had terrible sleep issues because of cold feet during North winters. Wearing simple woolen-blend socks made a massive difference instantly. Pro-tip: wash your feet and apply some moisturizer before putting on the socks.

Honestly, wearing socks to bed feels so weird to me, I feel trapped! But my roommate swears by it during the rainy season. It is totally a personal preference, just try it for a night and see.
