Is heat or cold better for migraine?

I get really severe migraines sometimes, and I'm looking for anything to help ease the throbbing. Some people say a cold compress, others suggest a warm towel. Is heat or cold generally better for migraine relief?

For my migraines, a cold gel pack placed on my forehead in a dark room works best to numb the throbbing. Along with this, make sure you are eating clean, staying hydrated, and avoiding common dietary triggers like processed foods and excess caffeine.

Before spending on expensive migraine clinics, try simple cold therapy at home. I bought a cheap reusable ice wrap online which works perfectly to ease the throbbing. Plan your budget for a doctor's consultation first rather than buying fancy gadgets.

Honestly, during exam stress, my head literally explodes with migraine. I just put a cold damp cloth or an ice pack on my eyes and forehead, and it helps so much. Heat makes me feel nauseous, so cold is definitely the way to go.

I used to treat my severe headaches with simple ice packs, but it turned out to be a symptom of high blood pressure that needed proper medication. Please don't ignore frequent migraines or self-treat with home remedies for too long; see a neurologist for a proper diagnosis.

In our family, we have always applied a cold, wet cotton cloth over the eyes to soothe a headache. Sometimes, dipping your feet in warm water while keeping a cold pack on your neck can also help draw the pressure away from your head. Try these gently, and rest in a quiet room.

I have lived with migraines for fifteen years. The general rule is cold on the forehead or temples to numb the sharp pain, but some people find a warm heating pad on the neck relaxes the shoulder tension that triggers the headache. Keep a diary to see which one works for your specific trigger.

A cold compress on the back of my neck helps manage the acute throbbing of a migraine. Once the pain starts to subside, I find that a gentle walk in fresh air really helps clear my head. Regular light cardio works wonders for preventing these headaches if your doctor approves.
