Is heat good for knee pain?

My knees sometimes ache after a long day, especially in the cold. My grandmother always told me to apply something warm. Is heat considered good for knee pain?

Applying a heating gel or a warm pad for 15 minutes before work can help reduce morning knee stiffness. However, if you have swelling or a recent injury, heat will worsen it. Better to consult an orthopedist to save time in the long run.

For mild knee pain, wrapping the joint in a warm cloth dipped in salt-water provides great relief. But if you have severe swelling, difficulty walking, or a clicking sound, please avoid home remedies and see a specialist immediately.

Haan, garm paani ki thaili se sekne par ghutno ki akad kam ho jaati hai, especially thand ke mausam mein na. But agar dard lagatar bana hua hai, toh ignore mat karo aur doctor ko dikha lo.

I recently recovered from a knee ligament strain and spent weeks figuring this out. My doctor advised me to use heat only after the swelling completely subsided to relax the surrounding muscles. Please don't use heat if your knee is still swollen.

According to my fitness app's health guide, heat is excellent for chronic knee stiffness to increase blood flow, while ice is for acute injuries. I use a smart heating knee sleeve after workouts, but definitely check with a physical therapist first.
