Is hair loss a side effect of lexapro?

My doctor prescribed Lexapro for my anxiety, and while it's helping, I'm concerned about the amount of hair I'm losing. Is hair loss a common side effect of Lexapro? It's making me a bit worried.

Hmm, I'm on meds for my BP and my doc always discusses all side effects. Hair loss isn't something I heard specific to Lexapro, but honestly, stress itself can cause hair fall, right? Maybe check with your doctor again, just to be sure. Also, general health checkups really help understand what's going on.

Haha, if Lexapro caused hair loss, my bald uncle would be taking it as a hair removal cream! Kidding aside, almost all medicines have *some* side effects listed, but actual serious ones are rare. Best to chat with your prescribing doctor, they'll know best if this is common or if something else is causing it.

Oh, really? I've been considering Lexapro for my anxiety, and this is making me a bit nervous now. Have others experienced this too? I already have thin hair, so this is a big concern for me. Please share if you know more.

Yes, it's possible for some meds to have this effect. Don't worry too much, but definitely talk to your doctor to understand if it's related or not. They might adjust the dose or suggest something else.

Honestly, at this point, if it gave me good sleep, I'd probably trade a few strands of hair! But on a serious note, it's always good to check. Maybe you can look up patient reviews online or just call your doctor's office quickly to ask. Don't stress yourself more.

Beta, when you are taking any medication, your body goes through changes. Sometimes things like hair fall can be related to stress or even just general vitamin deficiencies. My neighbor was on something similar and had hair fall, but it was due to low iron. Always discuss openly with your doctor, they can guide you.
