Is gluten free pasta better for diabetics?

My wife has diabetes and loves pasta. We're looking for ways to make her diet healthier without completely cutting out her favourite foods. Is gluten-free pasta a better option for diabetics compared to regular pasta?

Please check the ingredients before buying. Most gluten-free pastas are made from white rice flour or corn starch, both of which have a very high glycemic index and can spike your blood sugar rapidly.

I know we all look for easy options, but these ready-made gluten-free pastas are not very healthy. It is much better to make simple suji vermicelli or home-cooked daliya with lots of vegetables for sugar control.

Don't fall for the 'gluten-free' label thinking it's diabetic-friendly. Carb count is what matters for sugar, and pasta is still pure carb. Eat it in small quantity or avoid it.

My family physician explicitly advised us against corn or rice-based gluten-free pasta for my father's diabetes. The lack of fiber causes rapid glucose absorption. He recommended organic whole-wheat or legume-based pasta instead.

If you love pasta like me, gluten-free pasta tastes a bit different and is still heavy on carbs. If you are diabetic, maybe just have regular wheat pasta once in a while but load it up with tons of veggies and chicken/paneer to balance it out.

Bhai, these packed English foods like pasta are not very good for sugar patients. Simple home food like jowar roti and green saag is the healthiest and will keep you fit.

I get so worried reading about what diabetics can and cannot eat. I read somewhere that corn-based gluten-free pasta is actually worse for insulin spikes. Maybe it's safer to avoid pasta altogether and stick to plain rotis?
