Is dying your hair safe during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and really want to dye my hair for a special occasion, but my mother-in-law is strictly against it, saying it's unsafe. I'm getting mixed advice online too. Is dying your hair generally considered safe during pregnancy?

My wife wanted to dye her hair during her second trimester and her doctor said it is mostly fine after the first three months. The chemicals absorbed by the skin are very minimal anyway. Just make sure the room is well-ventilated so you don't inhale the strong fumes.

I just delivered my baby boy last month! During my pregnancy, I wanted to hide my grey hair, so I consulted my OB-GYN. She advised me to wait till the second trimester and use ammonia-free, organic hair dyes. Everything went perfectly safe and fine!

Yes, it is generally considered safe as very little dye actually enters your bloodstream. However, to be extra safe, you can try highlights instead of a full global color so the chemicals don't touch your scalp directly. Do consult your doctor before you go ahead.

Honestly, pregnancy is so exhausting that hair color was the last thing on my mind, but I did ask my doctor once. She laughed and said it's totally safe after the first trimester, just avoid harsh chemical treatments. If you have the energy to sit in a salon for 3 hours, go for it!

My mother-in-law was completely against coloring hair during pregnancy, but our doctor reassured us that modern colors are quite safe. Following the doctor's advice, I waited until the fifth month and used a very gentle, herbal-based dye. It's always best to ask your gynaecologist first.

I was munching on some cheese fries at the salon when I asked my stylist about this! Most research says hair coloring is perfectly safe during pregnancy since absorption is very low. Still, to satisfy my pregnancy anxiety, I went for ammonia-free color and felt totally fine.

I once had a bad allergic reaction to a hair dye when I was pregnant because my skin had become super sensitive. I really regret not doing a patch test first or checking with my doctor. Please do a patch test 24 hours before and get your doctor's okay before trying any new chemical.
