Is core sleep better than rem?

My doctor mentioned different sleep stages, like REM sleep. I heard about something called 'core sleep' too. Is core sleep considered better than REM sleep for proper rest?

Listen bro, don't stress too much about these tracker terms. Core sleep is just your basic light sleep that makes up most of the night, while REM is when you dream and process emotions. Your brain needs both to function, so one isn't better than the other. Just sleep well!

My father always said a quiet mind leads to peaceful sleep, but modern trackers have made us overanalyze everything. My doctor explained that REM sleep is crucial for memory consolidation, while core sleep is the foundation of the sleep cycle. Both are essential for long-term health.

Neither is better, they work together. Try to avoid screen time for 30 minutes before bed to get a balanced amount of both core and REM sleep.

For managing my diabetes, getting uninterrupted sleep is highly critical. REM sleep helps regulate stress hormones which directly affect blood sugar, while core sleep keeps the overall cycle stable. Focus on sleeping at the same time every day rather than comparing stages.

They both serve different functions in the body. REM sleep is vital for mental health and memory, while core sleep forms the bulk of your sleep cycle. Having a light, vegetarian dinner at least two hours before sleeping helps the body transition smoothly through all these sleep stages.

I used to feel so anxious when my tracker showed low REM sleep, thinking my mental health was failing. But I realized core sleep and REM sleep naturally balance out when we manage our daytime stress. Please don't let these daily sleep scores make you feel overwhelmed.
