Is congestion a sign of pregnancy?

My nose feels really blocked and I've been sneezing a lot, but I don't have a fever. Someone told me this could be a symptom of pregnancy. Is congestion really a sign that you might be pregnant?

Yes, nasal congestion can be an lesser-known symptom of pregnancy, often referred to as pregnancy rhinitis. It occurs due to hormonal shifts and increased blood volume. However, because it is also a common symptom of allergies or infections, consulting your gynecologist is the best way to get accurate guidance.

Oh god, I had this too and I kept worrying if it was Covid or some severe infection! It turns out hormones can really cause your nose to block up during pregnancy. Definitely take a home pregnancy test to be sure, and try not to stress like I did!

In my days, we didn't know the scientific reasons, but many pregnant women in our family used to get a blocked nose. It is quite normal and usually goes away after delivery. Just use warm steam and don't worry too much, dear.

Yes, it is common, but instead of taking English medicines which can harm the baby, try drinking warm water with a little ginger and honey. It clears the throat and nose naturally. But if you have a high fever or severe breathing trouble, please go to a doctor immediately.

It can be a sign, but please be very careful about what medicines you take for it. During my pregnancy, I took a normal OTC nasal spray which my doctor later told me to avoid. Always get even a simple stuffy nose checked by your gynecologist first.

Haan na, it actually happens to many women because of all the hormonal changes. I also had a very stuffy nose during my second month and thought it was just seasonal change. Taking hot steam twice a day helps a lot, do try it.
