Is collagen safe for liver and kidney?

I'm thinking of starting collagen supplements for joint pain. However, I have some concerns about my liver and kidney health as I'm getting older. Are these supplements generally safe for both organs?

I know how stressful it is when you just want to improve your skin or joints but have to constantly worry about damaging your organs. I felt so overwhelmed checking ingredients every single day. Just take a deep breath, and don't take anything until your doctor gives you the green light.

I get so anxious reading about kidney stones and high protein intake, and collagen is basically pure protein. What if it overloads the kidneys over time? It really scares me, so I think it is much safer to just get your kidney and liver function tests done before buying these powders.

I literally just went through a health scare where my kidney creatinine levels went up slightly while I was on collagen and biotin. My doctor told me to stop everything immediately. Thankfully my levels are back to normal now, so please be extremely cautious with these things.

Look, if you have healthy kidneys and liver, moderate collagen is generally fine. But if you have any pre-existing issue, even minor kidney stones, high protein supplements can cause trouble. Focus on drinking plenty of water, eat a balanced diet, and don't rely blindly on these packaged powders.

I ignored a dull ache in my side for months thinking it was just gas, but it turned out to be a kidney issue that got worse because of my self-medication habits. Don't make the same mistake I did. Get a proper blood and urine test done before adding any new supplement to your daily routine.

Honestly, if your daily diet has decent protein from paneer, dal, or eggs, you don't even need collagen supplements. People in my gym drink these shakes constantly, but real food and regular exercise do 95% of the work. Save your liver and kidneys the extra processing load.
