Is coffee bad during pregnancy?

My sister is pregnant and she's a big coffee drinker. We keep telling her to stop, but she says it's fine. Is coffee really bad during pregnancy, or can she have a little bit?

Hey sweetie, don't stress too much! Having one small cup of coffee a day is absolutely fine. Just keep it under 200mg of caffeine and enjoy your day, you don't need to completely cut it out.

I remember crying because I felt so guilty for wanting just one cup of coffee during my first trimester. It is so hard when everyone is constantly telling you what to do. Having a small cup is generally fine, so please don't feel guilty about taking care of your own cravings too.

When I was pregnant, I limited myself to just one half-cup of light coffee in the morning because too much caffeine made my baby kick very restlessly. Try replacing your second cup with coconut water or fresh buttermilk. It is much safer and keeps you hydrated.

Since we already deal with hormone imbalances in PCOS, caffeine can sometimes spike cortisol levels. During pregnancy, I kept my coffee intake very low, just to be safe. It's really best to ask your gynecologist what is safe for your specific hormone levels.

I used to read ten articles a day about caffeine and panic over every sip of tea or coffee! Most doctors agree that under 200mg is safe, but if it makes you anxious like me, maybe switch to decaf or warm milk to keep your mind at peace.

In our times, we avoided coffee because it causes too much body heat and acidity during pregnancy. Instead, we drank warm milk with almonds or a little saffron. If you must drink coffee, make sure it is very light and only once a day.
