Is coconut oil good for hair loss?

My hair has been falling out quite a bit lately, especially after washing. My dadi always told me to massage coconut oil. Does it actually help with hair loss or is it just an old wives' tale?

With my PCOS, I experienced severe hair thinning and tried coconut oil thinking it would regrow my hair. While it is wonderful for deep conditioning and preventing breakage, it cannot fix hormonal hair loss. It's best to consult a dermatologist for proper treatment.

I went to a top dermatologist at Apollo Hospital for my hair loss. They clearly explained that oil cannot penetrate deep enough to revive dead hair follicles. They advised me to use coconut oil only as a pre-wash conditioner and stick to medical lotions for actual regrowth.

I totally get it, seeing your hair thin out can be so stressful and heartbreaking. Coconut oil is lovely for keeping your existing hair soft and strong, but please don't expect it to regrow hair on bald spots. Be gentle with your scalp and maybe check your iron levels too.

Honestly, coconut oil just makes your hair look thicker by moisturizing it, but it won't cure male pattern baldness or genetic hair loss. I wasted a year doing head massages with it. Save your time and consult a doctor for proper clinically proven options.

I don't have hours to leave oil in my hair on busy workdays. Coconut oil is decent for basic hair health, but if you have actual clinical hair loss, you need targetted serum and vitamin supplements. Don't waste time on overnight oiling routines.
