Is carbonated water bad for your liver?

My husband has some liver issues, and we're very careful about his diet. He likes to drink carbonated water occasionally. Is carbonated water potentially harmful to someone with liver problems, or is it generally safe?

It is always better to drink copper-vessel water or warm water with a bit of lemon for liver health. Plain soda occasionally won't hurt, but if you have persistent pain in the right side, don't ignore it and see a doctor.

Plain carbonated water is processed by your kidneys and stomach, not directly your liver. However, sweetened carbonated drinks can lead to fatty liver. Stick to plain water and avoid heavy sugary sodas.

Unless your carbonated water has a shot of vodka in it, your liver is absolutely safe! Plain sparkling water is just water with bubbles, so don't worry too much.

I used to have heavy bloating and thought it was liver trouble, but it was just gas from soda. I switched to drinking buttermilk with roasted cumin, which helped so much. Keep these heavy fizzy drinks to a minimum.

In our family, we believe too much gas-forming food is not good for digestion. But medically, simple sparkling water does not harm the liver. If you have any liver concerns, getting an LFT blood test done is the safest step.
