Is carbonated water bad for diabetics?

My doctor told me I have pre-diabetes, and I'm trying to make healthier choices with my drinks. I like sparkling water, but my friend said carbonated water is bad for diabetics. Is this true, or can I still enjoy it sometimes?

Plain soda or sparkling water doesn't have any sugar, so it hasn't affected my levels at all. Just make sure you don't buy the flavored ones that have hidden sugars in them.

I was really craving fizzy drinks after my diagnosis. I switched to plain carbonated water with a squeeze of fresh lime and it worked beautifully without any glucose spikes. It is a lifesaver.

Plain carbonated water is fine, but check the sodium content if you also have high blood pressure like me. Regular doctor visits and tracking your diet is the best way to stay safe.

My son has type 1 diabetes and missed cold drinks a lot. We started giving him plain sparkling water with mint leaves. It is safe for his sugars, but we still limit it so his stomach doesn't get bloated.

It is a great zero-calorie swap for soft drinks. Just don't let it replace regular plain water entirely. Keep your hydration high, especially if you hit the gym regularly.

Agreed with others. Plain sparkling water is totally fine, just check labels for added sweeteners.
