Is bv common in pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester and have been feeling a bit unusual down there. My friend mentioned BV can be common during this time. Is BV common in pregnancy, and what symptoms should I look out for?

Yes, bacterial vaginosis is actually very common during pregnancy due to hormonal changes altering the vaginal pH. But you absolutely cannot ignore it. Go see your gynae and get the safe antibiotics prescribed right away.

I went to a top hospital during my pregnancy and my doctor told me BV is quite frequent because of hormonal shifts. However, untreated BV can cause complications like premature birth, so please ask your doctor clearly for a safe treatment plan.

My wife had this issue and while she took the doctor's prescribed medicine, our dietitian also suggested including natural probiotics like fresh homemade curd in her diet. Maintaining a healthy gut and vaginal microbiome is very helpful during these times.

It is common but don't try to guess it. A simple vaginal swab test at any local lab doesn't cost much, usually around 300 to 500 rupees. It is better to get the test done first so you don't waste money on wrong medicines.

Yes, it is very common because pregnancy hormones change the natural flora down there. Don't worry, it is easily treatable with pregnancy-safe antibiotics, but please don't use any over-the-counter washes. Get your doctor to prescribe the right gel or tablets.

I was reading up on pregnancy health for my sister and found out that almost 10-20% of pregnant women get BV. It is super common but needs medical attention. If there is abnormal discharge or odor, a quick clinic visit is a must.

During my pregnancy, I had to manage high BP and sudden infections. It is very common to get infections like BV when your body is undergoing so much stress. Keep up with your regular hospital checkups and always mention any new symptoms to your doctor.

I had bacterial vaginosis in my second trimester. I didn't want to take any risks, so I immediately went to my doctor who gave me a safe cream. It cleared up in a week without affecting my baby.

I had BV twice during my pregnancy. My tip is to wear only loose-fitting, breathable cotton underwear and avoid any scented soaps in that area. Take the full course of antibiotics your doctor prescribes, even if the discharge stops early.
