Is broccoli good for pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester and trying to eat as healthy as possible for the baby. My mother-in-law told me to eat lots of greens. Is broccoli a good vegetable to include in my diet during pregnancy?

Broccoli is very rich in folic acid, which is excellent during pregnancy. But make sure to wash it thoroughly with warm water to remove any dirt or worms before cooking. If you ever feel severe cramping or nausea, please don't rely on home remedies and go straight to your gynaecologist.

I am in my first trimester and my doctor suggested broccoli for calcium. But did anyone else get extreme bloating and gas after eating it? I am almost scared to touch it now, please let me know if this is normal.

My grandmother told me to stick to local vegetables, but my doctor said broccoli is highly nutritious for the baby's development. I compromised by steaming it well and adding a bit of mustard tempering. It has been great for my iron levels so far.

Don't blindly eat anything just because people on internet forums call it a superfood. Pregnancy is a sensitive time. Ask your obstetrician if broccoli suits your specific digestive health and body type.

Broccoli is good, but it is quite pricey in local mandis. During pregnancy, save that money for the regular scans and delivery expenses which are very high these days. Local palak and cabbage are much cheaper and give similar nutrition.

Was just reading up on pregnancy diets for my wife and saw broccoli is loaded with vitamins A and C. It seems like a great option to add to pasta or stir-fry. Just make sure to wash it really well to avoid any infections.

I am newly pregnant and still learning about what is safe to eat. My mother-in-law says green leafy vegetables are a must, but is broccoli safe to eat raw in salads, or should I only eat it fully cooked?

Yes, it is healthy, but don't force yourself to eat it if you hate the smell. Many pregnant women get aversion to cruciferous veggies. You can easily eat simple beans or peas if broccoli is hard to digest.
