Is breast tenderness a sign of pregnancy?

My period is delayed by a week, and I've noticed my breasts feeling quite tender to touch. My husband thinks it might be because I'm pregnant. Is breast tenderness a common sign of early pregnancy?

Yes, it is a very common early sign, but honestly, it can also just mean your period is coming. I always overanalyze these symptoms every month and get super anxious. The only way to stop worrying is to wait a couple of days and do a home test.

Haha, yes! It's like your body's way of saying 'Buckle up, things are about to change!' For me, they felt so heavy I thought they would fall off. If your period is late and your bras are feeling like torture devices, it is time to buy a pregnancy kit.

Yes, this is very natural when a new life is starting inside you. Wearing soft cotton clothes and applying a warm, damp cloth gently can bring some relief to the soreness. However, if the pain is too severe or on only one side, please consult your gynaecologist.

During both my pregnancies, tenderness was the absolute first symptom, starting even before my missed period. My tip is to switch to seamless, wire-free maternity bras immediately for relief. Don't worry, the soreness usually settles down significantly after the first trimester.

I have been feeling some soreness and heaviness for the past few days, and my period is also a day late. I am a bit shy to ask anyone at home about this. Does this tenderness happen to everyone in the very first week of pregnancy?

Breast tenderness is indeed caused by the rapid rise in estrogen and progesterone during early pregnancy. However, because these same hormones rise before menstruation, it can be clinically difficult to distinguish between the two. A urine or blood HCG test recommended by your doctor is the most reliable way to confirm.
