Is affected by removal of the thyroid gland?

My doctor told me I might need to get my thyroid gland removed due to a nodule. I'm worried about what happens after that. Will my body be affected much by the removal of the thyroid gland?

Hey! Removing the thyroid gland definitely affects your body because it's super important for hormones. But don't stress too much, doctors manage it really well with medication. You'll need to take thyroid hormone replacement pills life-long, but it becomes routine. My aunt went through it and is doing fine.

Yes, if the thyroid gland is removed, it affects your body a lot as it controls metabolism. You'll need lifelong medication to replace the hormones. It's a significant change, so close monitoring with your endocrinologist is crucial. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor all your questions.

Absolutely, thyroid removal means your body can't produce those vital hormones anymore. This can impact energy levels, weight, and even heart rate, similar to how BP also needs constant management. Regular check-ups and sticking to your medication schedule are key to living a normal life. Lifestyle changes can also help.

I've heard it can lead to weight changes and mood swings because of the hormone imbalance. Has anyone here experienced that after thyroid removal? It sounds really scary to me, I'd be so anxious about it.

Oh, for sure it affects. The thyroid is a big deal for metabolism, energy, weight, even your mood! So after removal, you'd be relying on medication completely. It sounds like a lot to keep track of, but I'm sure with a good doctor, it's manageable. Stay strong if you're going through this.

Any gland removal has effects, and the thyroid is a big one because of its hormonal role. It's not something to take lightly. If you're facing this, please ensure you're under regular supervision of a specialist. They will guide you on managing symptoms and medication.

Ho na, it definitely affects. Thyroid is like the master gland for metabolism. So once it's out, you need to take medicines to replace the hormones. It's not a big problem if you follow the doctor's advice properly. Just requires lifelong care, haan na.

Yes, when your thyroid is removed, your body stops producing thyroid hormones. This means you will need to take synthetic hormones every day for the rest of your life. It's manageable, but requires discipline. Many people live full lives after thyroidectomy; just follow your doctor's advice.

Beta, my neighbour had her thyroid removed many years ago. Yes, it affects, but with proper medicine every day, she lives a very normal life. It is not something to fear, just something to manage with care. The doctors nowadays are very good at this.

Of course it affects. You'll need to take medication daily, which means lifelong expenses. Also, regular blood tests to check hormone levels are important, so factor in those costs too. Make sure your health insurance covers these aspects if you're planning for it.
