Is a firm or soft mattress better for back pain?

I can't decide between a firm or soft mattress, and my back has been bothering me a lot. Which type of mattress is actually better for someone with back pain?

Listen, internet pe sab log kuch na kuch bolenge. For back pain, it's generally said that medium-firm is good, but every back is different. Don't just pick based on what people say here. Go to an orthopedist, get properly diagnosed, and ask *them* what kind of mattress is best for *your* specific issue.

This is a tough choice, just like choosing between a creamy butter chicken or a spicy biryani! For back pain, mostly people say firm or medium-firm. A soft one is like a gooey dessert, nice for a moment but bad for your posture long-term. You need that support, like a good base for your pizza!

Actually, yaar, mostly docs recommend a medium-firm mattress. Too soft, and your spine sinks in like a hammock. Too firm, and it puts pressure on your hips and shoulders. You need that balance, jo spine ko natural shape mein rakhe. Mera friend ne bhi medium-firm liya, usko theek laga.

My own physiotherapist strongly advised a medium-firm mattress. She explained that a firm mattress provides adequate support, preventing the spine from sinking, which can aggravate pain. However, it shouldn't be uncomfortably hard. A good mattress allows for natural spinal alignment and pressure relief. Soft mattresses often lack this support.

I've been wondering this too! Everywhere I look, it seems 'firm' or 'medium-firm' is the answer for back pain. I guess soft ones feel nice initially but don't give the right support in the long run. It's a big investment, so need to get it right!

For back pain, it's generally advised to go for a firm or medium-firm mattress. Proper spinal alignment is crucial, just like eating a balanced diet for overall health. A soft mattress can cause your spine to curve unnaturally. But do remember to also focus on core strength and posture during the day.
