Is a firm mattress better for back pain?

I've been having some lower back pain lately, and someone suggested I get a firmer mattress. Is a firm mattress actually better for back pain?

I'm not sure, I always thought soft mattresses were more comfortable. So is a firm one actually better for your back? And does it depend on what kind of back pain you have?

Hey! Don't stress too much, it's not a one-size-fits-all. Some people swear by firm mattresses for back pain, saying it offers better support. Others find a medium-firm one better. It really depends on your body and sleep position. Maybe try out different types if you can!

It's often recommended, yes, but not extremely hard. A medium-firm mattress that supports your spine's natural curve without sinking too much is generally ideal. A mattress too soft can misalign your spine, and one too hard can put pressure on points. It's an investment, so take your time choosing.

From what I've seen over the years, a firm mattress is usually better for back pain, but it should still have some contouring. Too soft, and your back sags. Too hard, and it might not support your natural curves. A good quality, firm-to-medium-firm orthopedic mattress is often recommended by specialists.

The wisdom of the body is profound. While material things can aid, a mattress that supports your posture and allows your body to align naturally is what's truly beneficial. Firmness can offer this. Listen to your body and choose what brings you comfort and peace, allowing for restful sleep and healing.
