Is a 24 hour fast good for weight loss?

I've been trying to lose some weight, and a friend suggested doing a 24-hour fast. I'm wondering if this is actually a good and effective method for weight loss, or if it's too extreme?

A 24-hour fast can help create a calorie deficit, but it is not a sustainable way to lose weight. It can lead to sudden drops in blood sugar and extreme weakness. It is always safer to consult a dietitian first.

A 24-hour fast sounds like pure torture to me! Honestly, fasting for a whole day just makes me overeat double the amount of biryani and sweets the next day. A small, consistent diet plan is much better.

I tried 24-hour fasting last month for weight loss and actually ended up fainting from weakness. It is extremely tough on the body if you aren't used to it. I switched to simple portion control and it is working much better.

My college-going daughter tried this 24-hour fast and became very weak and dizzy. As a mother, I do not recommend such extreme methods. Eating home-cooked, balanced meals and going for walks is a much healthier way to lose weight.

Staying hungry for 24 hours is not good for your health, child. It will cause gas and acidity in the stomach. Eat simple rotis, daal, and green vegetables on time, and walk a little every day to stay fit.

If you have thyroid issues, a 24-hour fast can actually mess up your metabolism and hormone levels even more. Before trying any fasting, get your thyroid levels tested and consult your endocrinologist to see if it is safe.

I panicked when I felt extremely dizzy during my first 24-hour fast, but later found out it is a very common reaction to sudden calorie drops. It is not for everyone. Do not force yourself if your body reacts badly.

Fasting is free, but the medical bills from fainting or severe acidity can be expensive. Instead of doing extreme 24-hour fasts, invest in a basic, affordable diet consultation to plan a practical and safe meal routine.
