Is 6 hours of sleep enough for a teenager?

My exams are coming up, and I'm studying a lot, so I'm getting only about 6 hours of sleep. My parents keep telling me it's not enough. Is 6 hours of sleep enough for a teenager, especially during exam times?

No way yaar, 6 hours is actually way too less for a teenager. Their bodies and brains are still growing, so they need like 8 to 10 hours of proper sleep. If they are sleeping late due to exams or gaming, it's really going to affect their focus, honestly.

I started showing early signs of PCOS during my teenage years, and my doctor told me that chronic lack of sleep can severely mess up a young girl's hormones. Six hours might seem normal due to school pressure, but supporting them to sleep more is very important for their health.

If you ask the teenager, they will say they can survive on 3 hours and Instagram, but trust me, 6 hours is not enough! They will be cranky all day and look like a sleepwalking extra from a horror movie. Push them to bed early and keep the screens away.

Clinically speaking, pediatricians and sleep specialists strongly recommend 8 to 10 hours of sleep for teenagers. Six hours is insufficient and can lead to mood swings, poor concentration, and even hormonal issues. It is best to consult a doctor if your teenager is struggling with insomnia or sleep anxiety.

Don't listen to kids or online blogs claiming some teens are 'natural short sleepers' who only need 6 hours. This is medically incorrect for a growing body. Take your teen to a family physician if they have chronic sleep issues or daytime sleepiness.

Getting teenagers to sleep 8 hours is much cheaper than running around for thyroid and vitamin deficiency tests when they complain of low energy. Plan their study and coaching schedule practically so they get enough rest without compromising their health or your pocket.

With school, tuition, and extra-curriculars, teenagers are indeed hard-pressed for time, but 6 hours of sleep is a recipe for physical and mental burnout. Help them manage their timetable better so they get a minimum of 8 hours. Good sleep hygiene is a lifesaver for young minds.

My 16-year-old son thinks sleeping at 2 AM and waking up at 8 AM is perfectly fine because his friends do it too. But as a tired parent, I see the lack of energy and focus. They absolutely need at least 8 hours, otherwise we have to deal with their grumpy moods all day!
