How to treat swollen ankles kidney disease?

My father has kidney disease and off late, his ankles are swelling a lot, especially by evening. The doctor said it's related to his kidneys, and I'm looking for ways to help manage this swelling at home.

I was up half the night searching about fluid retention, and honestly, it just made me panic. If you have kidney-related ankle swelling, skip the late-night reading and call your nephrologist in the morning. They need to adjust your medications properly to manage the fluid balance.

For kidney issues, managing your salt and fluid intake is absolutely critical to control ankle swelling. Please consult a renal dietitian who can give you a specific low-sodium diet plan tailored to your kidney function. Avoid any random herbal detox drinks as they can put more stress on your kidneys.

My ankles look like stuffed balloons these days, making it impossible to fit into my regular shoes! Kidney issues require strict medical supervision, so I just follow my nephrologist's advice and wear loose slip-ons. Don't worry, just stick to your doctor's plan.

My father's doctor explained that kidney disease causes fluid retention (edema) because the kidneys cannot filter sodium and water properly. He prescribed specific diuretics to help flush out the excess fluid and strictly warned us against sudden fluid overload. Please consult your nephrologist to adjust the dosage of such medicines.

While regular exercise is great, when you have kidney-related swelling, you shouldn't strain yourself with heavy workouts. Stick to light walks if your doctor clears you, and keep a strict watch on your daily sodium intake. Let your medical treatment do the heavy lifting here.

Ankle swelling ko bilkul ignore mat karna, haan? Kidney issues mein fluid accumulate hone lagta hai, toh doctor se milna hi sabse sahi tareeqa hai. Paani ki limit aur salt intake unse ache se samajh lo na ek baar.

When my child faced fluid retention issues, we had to be extremely careful with daily weight monitoring and fluid tracking. It is a daily task but keeping a log helps the doctor understand how the treatment is working. Please work closely with your medical team to manage this safely.

I agree with monitoring salt and fluid intake strictly. Keeping the feet elevated on a pillow while sitting or sleeping also helps reduce the swelling.

I was researching about edema and found that kidney issues often cause water to pool in the lower limbs. It seems like self-treating this is highly risky because fluid levels are so delicate. Have you already spoken to a nephrologist about these symptoms?
