How to treat knee meniscus tear with arthritis?

My knee has been giving me a lot of trouble lately, especially after my evening walk. The doctor told me it's a meniscus tear, but also that I have arthritis. It's really painful, can anything be done for both problems at once?

If your doctor permits, try straight leg raises and quad strengthening exercises. Building the muscles around the knee helps reduce the load on the joint.

Don't worry too much, this is a very common issue as we age. Avoid squatting or sitting on the floor completely, and use a knee sleeve to support the joint.

I used a hot water bag for the arthritis stiffness and ice packs for the tear swelling. Also, wearing good quality cushioned walking shoes makes a big difference.

My mother has this exact same issue. Regular physiotherapy sessions helped her regain mobility without needing surgery, so definitely give physical therapy a try!

Applying warm mustard oil with a bit of garlic has always eased my joint pain. But for the tear, rest is the main cure, don't strain the knee.

With arthritis, a meniscus tear can worsen if not managed correctly. Please get an MRI done and consult an orthopedic specialist before trying any physical exercises.
