How to tell friend struggling with infertility about pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant, and I'm so happy, but my best friend has been struggling with infertility for years. I don't want to upset her or make her feel worse. How should I tell her about my pregnancy in a sensitive way?

Having just gone through years of painful IVF cycles, I can tell you that hearing this news in a group or over a phone call can be devastating. Please send her a gentle, loving text message so she can cry or react privately before congratulating you. It shows immense respect for her struggle.

I agree with the advice of sending a text instead of telling them in person. It gives them the private space to process their emotions and react without any pressure.

It is completely normal to feel guilty and anxious about sharing your good news when you know your friend is hurting so deeply. Your feelings are valid, and so are hers. Just be honest, gentle, and give her all the time she needs to respond.

No need to make it an awkward dramatic movie scene, guys! Just send a warm message saying you're expecting, and let her know she is allowed to throw a cushion at your face next time you meet. Keeping it low-key is the best way to handle it.

I totally get it, you love her and don't want to break her heart while celebrating your own joy. Try telling her privately via a sweet message, acknowledging that you know this might be hard to hear but you wanted her to know first. It keeps the friendship safe.
