How to take a pregnancy test?

My period is late, and I'm a bit nervous. I want to check if I'm pregnant. How do I take a pregnancy test at home to get the most accurate result? Are there any specific times that are better?

For the most accurate result, it's best to ask your gynaecologist about when to test. When I had doubts, my doctor at Apollo told me to use the first morning urine sample for the home strip. If it's confusing, they can easily order a beta-hCG blood test which is 100% accurate.

If you are trying to conceive and have diabetes, managing your sugar levels beforehand is very critical. Use a standard home test kit with your first morning urine, and if it's positive, immediately consult your endocrinologist along with your gynaecologist to keep your sugar in control.

Please don't panic if you see a very faint second line, I almost cried with anxiety when it happened to me! It is totally normal in the early days because hormone levels are low. Just wait for two days and test again with your first morning urine.

Just buy a standard Prega News or any reliable strip from the chemist. Put 2-3 drops of your morning pee into the sample well using the dropper. Wait for exactly 3 to 5 minutes to read the lines, don't read it after that as it can show evaporation lines.

Make sure you don't drink too much water before taking the test, as it can dilute the hormone and give a false negative. I kept checking the strip every five minutes and got so stressed! Just set a timer on your phone and try to stay calm while it processes.

It is a very simple process, just follow the instructions on the test box using morning urine. Meanwhile, keep up with your regular light walks to keep your stress down while waiting for the result. If it's positive, you can discuss with your doctor about what exercises are safe to continue.
