How to stop weight loss in parkinson's disease?

My mother has Parkinson's disease, and she's been steadily losing weight, which is making her weaker. How can we help her stop this weight loss and maintain her health better?

Though my experience is with a child's chronic health, keeping meals easy to eat is universally helpful. For Parkinson's, tremors can make eating tiring, so try offering dense, soft foods like mashed potato, fruit purees, and thick dal with ghee. High-calorie smoothies are also easier to consume.

Sometimes the timing of Parkinson's medication interferes with eating because of nausea or swallowing issues. Try to schedule their main meals about an hour after they take their levodopa. If swallowing is very difficult, please consult a speech therapist for a safe swallowing assessment.

Hey, don't stress too much about this. Weight loss is quite common in Parkinson's because swallowing can get tricky. Try using heavy spoons or straws to make eating less frustrating for them, and definitely check with their neurologist.

Haan, Parkinson's mein tremors ki wajah se calories jaldi burn hoti hain na. Unhe thoda frequent meals do, har do-teen ghante mein kuch na kuch khilao. Paneer, makhane, aur dahi jaisi cheezein soft hoti hain aur healthy weight maintain karne mein madad karti hain.

My grandfather has Parkinson's and he was losing weight because he just got tired of holding the spoon. We switched him to finger foods like cutlets, rolls, and small sandwiches. It made eating much easier and more fun for him!

To prevent muscle wasting, they need adequate protein and resistance training if their mobility allows. Simple bodyweight exercises or resistance band movements can help preserve muscle mass. Combine this with calorie-dense healthy fats like peanut butter or olive oil in meals.
