My father went through this when his blood sugar was touching 300. Once we got his insulin and medication adjusted by his doctor, his body stopped burning muscle for energy and his weight stabilized. Focus on high-protein foods like chana, paneer, and eggs.

I agree with everyone saying medication adjustment is key. Adding healthy fats like almonds and walnuts to the diet also helps prevent further weight loss safely.

Beta, in our days, sudden weight loss in diabetes meant the body was getting weak. While you must follow the doctor's prescription, you can also have a cup of warm milk with a pinch of turmeric at night. Make sure they eat small meals at regular intervals to avoid sugar drops.

I freaked out when my mom lost 7 kgs in a month after her diabetes diagnosis. But the doctor explained that once her sugars are back under control, the weight loss will stop naturally. And that is exactly what happened after her dose was corrected!

Please do not try any random herbal powders or bitter gourd juices to manage diabetic weight loss. Rapid weight loss in diabetes usually means severe insulin deficiency or high blood sugar. You need to see an endocrinologist immediately to check their HbA1c.

It is indeed stressful to watch a loved one lose weight so quickly. Keep checking their blood sugar levels regularly and work closely with their doctor to manage it.
