How to stop weight gain on depo provera?

I've been on Depo-Provera for a few months now, and I'm definitely seeing some weight gain, which is making me quite uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from getting worse, or even reverse it?

I just got my first Depo shot last month and I am already noticing some weight changes, which is making me a bit nervous. Is it possible to control this just by managing diet, or does the injection always cause weight gain? I would love to hear from anyone who has managed this successfully.

I completely panicked when I gained 4 kgs in two months on Depo. But my doctor explained that Depo can increase your appetite significantly. Once I realized it was just hunger signals from the hormone, I started snacking on cucumbers and makhana instead of heavy snacks, and my weight stabilized.

I struggled with Depo weight gain for a year and tried all sorts of herbal teas and detox waters, but they didn't do much. What actually helped was strictly tracking my daily calorie intake and drinking lemon-ginger water to control the increased appetite. You have to be very consistent because the hormone increases hunger.

I totally get it, dealing with hormonal weight gain while trying to take care of your health is so exhausting. It really feels like a battle you can't win. Please don't be too hard on yourself, just try to make small healthy food choices and stay as active as possible.

Depo Provera is a strong hormonal injection and everyone's body reacts differently to it. If you are experiencing sudden, rapid weight gain, please get it checked by your gynecologist. They can evaluate if a different contraceptive option would be safer and better suited for your body.

My wife faced this exact issue on Depo last year. The constant weight gain only stopped when she worked closely with her doctor to switch to a non-hormonal copper-T device. Her appetite returned to normal within a couple of months after switching, so definitely discuss other options with your doctor.
