How to stop vomiting when brushing teeth?

This is a bit embarrassing, but almost every time I brush my teeth, especially the back of my tongue, I gag and sometimes even vomit. It makes oral hygiene really difficult. Is there any trick to stop this reflex?

You can try smelling some fresh lemon or rinsing with warm salt water before you start brushing, it really helps calm the gag reflex. But listen, if this vomiting is severe or you are losing weight because of it, please get it checked. It's better to rule out any stomach or throat infection.

My son used to face this every single morning, it was so stressful. We changed his toothpaste to a non-foaming, mild herbal one and switched to an ultra-soft brush, which made a huge difference. Also, tell them to breathe only through the nose while brushing, it helps stop that sudden gagging.

Hey, chill, don't stress too much about it! It happens to so many of us, especially when we put the brush too far back. Just try focusing on your front teeth first and take small breaks while brushing. You'll be totally fine, don't worry!

Please be very careful with this. I ignored my morning vomiting and gagging during brushing for months, thinking it was just a bad habit, but it turned out to be severe acid reflux that damaged my food pipe. I highly recommend visiting a gastroenterologist to get a proper checkup done.

Bhai, subah uthkar pehle thoda thanda pani piyo aur thodi der baitho. Jaldi jaldi me brush bilkul andar mat dalo, dheere dheere bahar ke daant saaf karo. Neem ki datun bhi try kar sakte ho, usse ulti jaisa nahi lagta hai aur pet bhi saaf rehta hai.

In our times, we always kept a small piece of green cardamom or clove in the mouth before starting the morning routine to prevent nausea. Chew it slightly and then brush with a soft hand. Don't brush on an empty stomach if it causes too much discomfort, but do consult a family physician if this continues daily.
