For me, having small light dry meals helped a lot, like a simple plain khakhra or dry toast early morning. I avoid very spicy or oily food entirely as it triggers the nausea instantly. But please check with your dietitian or doctor first, as everyone's nutritional needs and triggers are totally different during this phase.

My wife faced severe morning sickness, and we realized managing stress and keeping a calm daily routine made a big difference. Also, make sure you are getting your regular BP and routine checkups done because dehydration from vomiting can affect your overall vitals. Don't skip your doctor visits, they can give safe medication to control this.

I am in my first trimester and everything makes me feel so nauseous, it is quite overwhelming. My mother told me to try smelling fresh lemon or ginger, but I am still struggling a lot. Does anyone know if eating very cold things like watermelon or ice chips is safe to try, or does it make it worse?

Honestly, I used to cry almost every day in my first trimester because the puking just wouldn't stop and I felt so weak and guilty. It is emotionally draining when you can't even keep water down, but please be gentle with yourself. If it gets too severe and you can't urinate properly, don't suffer in silence, just go to your doctor immediately for IV fluids.

Beta, don't worry too much, this is a very common phase and it usually gets much better after the third month. In our times, we used to slowly sip warm ginger tea or just suck on a small piece of amla when the nausea started. Just rest as much as you can and take your doctor's prescribed iron and vitamins after food, not on an empty stomach.
