How to stop heartburn during pregnancy?

Since my second trimester, this heartburn has been really bothering me, especially at night. My doctor said it's common during pregnancy, but it's making it hard to sleep. Are there any safe home remedies or tips to get some relief?

Oh, this is such a common thing during pregnancy, beta. I remember suffering a lot too. Eat small, frequent meals, avoid spicy and oily food, and don't lie down right after eating. Sleeping with your head slightly elevated also helps. It's uncomfortable, but it will pass after delivery. Just be patient.

Heartburn can be really severe during pregnancy. While it's common, don't just suffer through it or self-medicate. Always, always talk to your obstetrician. They can recommend safe antacids or dietary changes specific to your condition. I learned to always consult my doctor for any discomfort during pregnancy.

Heartburn is definitely a common pregnancy symptom, not at all a sign you're doing anything wrong. With PCOS, I've had to be super careful about medication and dietary changes, so I'd advise the same caution in pregnancy. Discuss all your symptoms with your gynecologist; they can suggest pregnancy-safe options and rule out anything else.

As a doctor and someone who's been pregnant, I can confidently say small, frequent meals are paramount. Avoid anything acidic, spicy, or fatty. Drink water between meals, not with them. Elevate your head while sleeping, and avoid lying down for at least 2-3 hours after eating. If home remedies don't suffice, your OB/GYN can prescribe safe antacids like Tums or Gaviscon.

Oh, this sounds tough! I'm not pregnant yet, but I get heartburn sometimes. Does eating almonds help, like my nani says? Or is it different during pregnancy? Should I ask my mom to tell me more about what she did?

It's a very common complaint due to hormonal changes and pressure from the growing uterus. Stick to bland foods, avoid trigger foods like chocolate, peppermint, and caffeine. Over-the-counter antacids like calcium carbonate are generally considered safe, but always double-check with your doctor or pharmacist first. Keeping a food diary can also help identify personal triggers.
