How to stop hair loss while taking methotrexate?

My rheumatologist prescribed Methotrexate for my arthritis, and it's helping with the pain, but my hair is falling out more than usual. Is there anything I can do to stop hair loss while taking this medication?

Hair loss with methotrexate is a known side effect, I've read about it. While I manage diabetes and not this, I know how important it is to follow your doctor's advice strictly. Ensure your diet is rich in nutrients and don't try any remedies without discussing with your rheumatologist, especially since your body is sensitive to meds.

Methotrexate can affect folic acid levels, which is often linked to hair health. Your doctor might prescribe folic acid supplements to counter this. Also, it's always good to ensure other things like your thyroid levels are fine, as imbalances can also cause hair fall. Regular check-ups with your specialist are key here.

Hey, I understand how worrying hair loss can be, especially when you're already managing a condition. It's a common side effect of methotrexate, but often manageable. Talk to your prescribing doctor about it; they might adjust something or recommend specific supplements like folic acid. Don't stress too much, just keep them informed.

While you should absolutely consult your doctor first since this is a serious medication, some people find gentle scalp massages with natural oils like coconut or almond oil can help stimulate circulation. But remember, this is secondary to medical advice. Your doctor knows best how to manage the side effects of methotrexate.

Methotrexate hair loss is well-documented. Best course of action is to schedule a quick chat with your rheumatologist. They often prescribe folic acid to mitigate this. Don't waste time on unproven remedies. Get professional advice quickly to address it efficiently.

My niece was on methotrexate and faced this too, it was heartbreaking to see. Her doctor immediately put her on a higher dose of folic acid, and it really helped slow down the hair fall. Please talk to your specialist about folic acid supplementation; it's a common practice. Take care of yourself.
