How to sleep after total knee replacement?

My mother just had a total knee replacement, and she's struggling to get any sleep because of the discomfort and pain. We've tried elevating her leg, but she still can't get into a deep sleep. Are there any specific sleeping positions or tips for after TKR?

Wow, TKR sounds like a major procedure. I was just researching it for an assignment. So after that, it's really important to keep the leg elevated and supported, right? Like with special pillows? I'm guessing sleeping on your side is out of the question for a while.

Please, please be very careful and stick to what your surgeon advises. I once thought I knew better and ignored post-op instructions for another surgery, and it set back my recovery significantly. For TKR, if you're struggling with sleep due to pain or discomfort, you absolutely must talk to your doctor. Don't just push through it.

Total knee replacement is a significant surgery. Your doctor and physical therapist are the best people to guide you on sleeping positions. If you're experiencing pain or difficulty, it's not something to just Google. Call your medical team for specific advice tailored to your recovery. Safety first, always.

Aiyo, Total Knee Replacement is a big procedure, ma. You need lots of rest. My family would say to put a pillow under your knee to keep it comfortable and elevated for good circulation. But your doctor's instructions are always the most important. Please, follow what they say precisely for best healing. Take care.

Beyond the right positioning (elevated leg, no twisting), consider how your body is fueled for recovery. Protein intake is crucial for tissue repair. Also, light, prescribed mobility exercises during the day, even if just ankle pumps, improve circulation and can reduce night stiffness. Don't overdo it, but active recovery helps sleep.
