How to sleep after rotator cuff surgery?

I had rotator cuff surgery a few days ago, and sleeping is a nightmare. I have to wear a sling and can't put pressure on my shoulder. What are the best sleeping positions to minimize pain and aid healing after this surgery?

Rotator cuff surgery, oh boy! Prepare for some interesting sleeping positions, you'll feel like a human pretzel trying to get comfortable. But seriously, a recliner is your best friend. Or stack pillows like you're building a fort. Just avoid sleeping on that side, unless you want to feel like you wrestled a bear. Ha!

I remember after my shoulder injury, sleeping was such a nightmare, so I completely understand what you're going through. It's frustrating and can really affect your mood. Just know that it's okay to feel upset about it. Try to focus on small comforts, like a cozy blanket or a relaxing sound, and be very patient with yourself.

Healing is a journey for the body and the spirit. Be gentle with your shoulder and your mind. Try to visualize healing and calmness before you sleep. A reclined position is usually helpful, but always listen to what your inner wisdom, and your doctor, tells you. Stay positive and believe in your body's ability to recover.

My orthopaedic surgeon insisted on sleeping in a reclined position for the first few weeks after rotator cuff surgery, either in a recliner chair or propped up with pillows in bed. The goal is to keep the arm immobilized and slightly away from the body. They also said to use ice packs before bed to reduce inflammation and pain, which definitely helped me sleep better.
